I have AN Iphone WhaHooooo

Posted in August 20th, 2008

Yes I am now part of the awesome group of people who has been iphoned.

I am adding this post via my iPhone in proof of just how COOL being a geek is.

My iPhone I’d through vodafone and I know their plan us not the best out there at the moment for data limits but the fact is I got my phone more to run my life ;) and not to surf away from home. Saying that it is so cool to trouble shoot a of issue without opening my big 15″ Dell, take notes and make an entry in my Twitter all from one device mo bigger than my iPod

If you are hesitating getting an iPhone as you are hearing all the downer points of mo copy paste and flash, well the cool factor of app store I think pit weighs the negative hands down.

I LOVE MY iPhone

When my interent was down

This last weekend I had the fun experience of losing my phone and internet connection due to a truck. Some time I think on the Friday night I was told that our phone line had been ripped of the house when I truck went up our street and my head dropped. NO INTERNET !!!

What do you do with no internet when you live your life with it on 24×7. Funnily enough I was fine with the phone as I have a mobile and I also was not so devastated without the internet, well sort of! ..  The thing I found the hardest was not having access to my twitter and the ability for instant access to information.

I found that since I have lots of news and favourite podcasts in twitter followings I got use to instant information available when I wanted it. This goes the same for the ability to Google for anything for what ever and when ever I wanted.

The experience has been an eye opener I hope I can try hard NOT to so addicted to seesmic and twitter. I really don’t want to start to go to TA meeting (twitter anonymous) :D

I have SO many monitors in front of me as I type at the moment. I have a mac a sever and its monitor a normal PC and its monitor and a laptop with a 19″ attached screen. In total I have 5 monitors. The beauty thing is I am able to control all but the mac with one mouse and keyboard all for free.

I do use VNC for accessing the normal PC if I need to but I use Win2VNC from my laptop to control my server and its just like wide screen time …..

I am such a geek

I have a PowerBook G4 and I have been so frustrated not having a webcam that I could use, but I am SO happy today as I found a cheap cam today that works …

I was window shopping at Cash Converters and there I found a second hand QuickCam with a OS X CD for only $35.

I took me all about 15 min to get the cam up and running and WhooLa Cam on my Mac

YAY

Check out my test video

Live streaming

I have been live streaming at ustream.tv for a while now and found it to be a great means to trying to show to the world a little bit about you life in front of the camera. There is only one problem I have found and that is no one wants to sit there and watch you.

There is an exception to this and that is people on ustream who have manage to entertain the viewer and they stay to see the show. A good example of this may be Chris Pirilo and many of the radio stations.

I can’t see that I will even get 1000+ people watching me at the same time and to be honest I am not really sure if I will keep the stream going for muych long but I am going to give a try.

First think is I will need to make a plan and am aim of what I want my stream to be all about. Still working on that, including the whole aim of this blog.

For the moment I am live streaming at ustream.tv and search for theaussiegeek.

See you there
